Koufonissia is a very small and flat island. It’s located somewhere in between Mykonos and Amorgos. This island is car-free (except for one taxi). So here you either walk or bicycle your way around and we love that! You can walk to all the beaches but there are also boats that you can take if walking is not your thing.

There’s one small main street in the Chora, that is cobbled and cute and where most hotels, restaurants, and bars are within or around. The Chora is right next to the port. As there are no cars on the island most hotels will come greet you by the port and help bring you and your luggage with their small battery-driven cars and scooters. As the island is small it’s so very easy to settle yourself in and go and explore this island and just relax straight away…

Apart from some lovely beaches, this island also has a few lovely spots for drinks and sunset drink not to missed…

The bigger beaches on the island have beautiful soft sand and the water is shallow and easy for swimming. There’s also plenty of small coves scattered around the island. Most of those beaches have fist size rocks or smaller, so ideally you need something harder than a beach towel to use to lie down on for comfort.

There are boats going all day to the nearby island Kato Koufonisi where’s there’ s a few more beaches. If you’re doing a private boat trip, you can also stop off at those gorgeous little beaches and coves all around Glaros island as well…
