Top 12 Beaches North-Western Guanacaste
There are many lovely beaches along this whole coastline. There’s too many to mention and list. Most of them are quiet, untouched and wild. Bring plenty of water with you, as most beaches are without shops.
1. Dantita Beach
Near Danta beach in Las Catalinas, it’s a short trek to get to the beach. It’s quite a small beach with off white sand and is easy to swim in the sea here. Looks stunning from above!

2. Playa Zapotillal
A small bay with lovely white sand. Beautiful surrounding trees but not the easiest beach to swim as the waves can get big. It’s a bit tricky to get here, down some dirt roads, but well worth it!

3. Playa Prieta
Connected to Playa Pan de Azúcar beach, you’re also close to Las Catalinas and Playa Penca. A lovely quiet beach with white sand.

4. Playa Flamingo
A larger beach with lovely white sand and is a great place for body surfing. Plenty of restaurants around here as well.

5. Playa Conchal
Connected to Brasilito beach, this is a very long spot. You’ll definitely find a place to be all alone here. Very easy to swim here too.

A beautiful white, sandy and wild beach. It’s well known for surfing. At the northern end of this beach is
Las Baulas National Park
It’s possible to see the leatherback sea turtles in nesting season here. There are a few restaurants scattered along the back of this beach as well.

A pretty nice beach with plenty of trees to give you shade. Very easy to swim too.

These are not the prettiest beaches by any means but offer something else.

A long beach with dark/black sand. There’s a couple of all-inclusive resorts here but at the northern end of the beach, it’s usually quiet. Very near the

11. Playas Del Coco
Not the prettiest of beaches but the beach town itself has plenty of nice places for coffee, food and drinks. So definitely worth it to spend an afternoon/evening here.

12. Playa Tamarindo
A larger beach town, the beach itself is not great, but this place is full of life and action. There’s plenty of bars and restaurants for a fun day drinking and beach beds to rent all along the beach.
